Marc Jacobs is pleased to present his very first collection of sunglasses in collaboration with Safilo Group, unveiling a range of sunglasses and prescription frames that are defined by clean, linear design and with sophisticated, unusual and original details.
The characteristic Marc Jacobs logo is hot-pressed on the outside of temples or engraved on the metal, while the simple MJ monogram also appears laser printed on the left lense in some of the styles. Strictly subtle yet distinctive details add an interesting twist to the sunglass collection: metal trim between the front and temples; metal temples sporting forked open work design and personalized by the logo; a bar along the front secured with tiny visible studs; a metal-trimmed aperture at the tenon of acetate temples.
The most striking models feature frames comprising three colour layered acetate, the various shades visible on profiles. The colour palette offers black-white-beige, blue-white-beige and bordeaux-white-beige combinations. The prescription frame collection, on the other hand, is characterised by what might be considered a more essential design.
The lines are very simple and minimalist, underscored by classic colours for more masculine models and delicate hues for women's frames. The look alternates large square designs with softened or rounded corners and oval designs.
Temples are personalized by tiny rectangular plates in gold coloured metal embedded next to the hinge, bearing the MARC JACOBS label. The Marc Jacobs collection of sunglasses and optical frames is manufactured and distributed by Safilo Group.
